An Inspector of Delhi Police Special Cell has succumbed to coronavirus at the Max Hospital in Saket. He was 49 years old.

The Special Cell Twitter handle on Wednesday put out a condolence message for the decreased inspector. As many as 10 Delhi Police personnel have died due to Covid-19 so far. Of the 2,000 Delhi Police personnel who have tested positive so far, around 1,300 have successfully recovered.

The Inspector was on ventilator support for the last 14 days and was also given plasma therapy twice, but he could not be saved. The Inspector, who breathed his last on Tuesday night, was awarded the police medal for gallantry award on January 26, 2020.

In a tweet, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Anil Baijal, expressed his condolences. "Extremely saddened at the death of the Delhi Police Inspector in the line of duty fighting Covid-19. A great warrior, recipient of Police Medal for gallantry, he brought laurels for @DelhiPolice. His untimely demise is irreplaceable loss for the organization. My deepest condolences," he tweeted.
