In recognition of its high standards of healthcare quality and performance, the Udhampur district hospital was on Thursday accorded the national quality assurance standards (NQAS) certification by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The hospital has scored a rating of 85 per cent, thereby meeting the criteria set up for achieving NQAS recognition, officials said.

Under the accorded certification, Udhampur district hospital will receive Rs 20 lakh at the rate of Rs 10,000 per bed. The certification will be reviewed after three years.

As part of NQAS certification programme, J&K government had shortlisted five district hospitals of Udhampur, Gandhi Nagar (Jammu), Baramulla, Leh and Anantnag for the purpose.

Among these hospitals Udhampur district hospital has become the first hospital in the state to get this certification.
