Jailed former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's lawyer Kaiser Kamal has been arrested over an alleged extramarital affair with the wife of a junior advocate at his law firm, a media report said on Thursday.

Kamal was arrested on Wednesday, bdnews24 said in its report citing the police as saying.

According to Kalabagan Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Asaduzzaman, advocate Atiqur Rahman lodged a case on Wednesday alleging deceit after he spotted his wife entering Kamal's car.

"Atiqur got into a heated argument with Kaiser as an enthusiastic mob gathered around them. Later, police arrived at the spot and took Kaiser to the police station," Asaduzzaman said.

Atiqur stated in the complaint that Kamal had been having an affair with his wife since February 2018.
