TOKYO | Thursday, May 17 2018 IST
The Japanese government is in final arrangements to inform the World Trade Organization that the nation is ready to retaliate against tariff actions by the United States, public broadcaster NHK said on Thursday.

Tokyo is considering slapping tariffs on U.S. exports worth about $409 million, which is equivalent to duties imposed by Washington via its tariffs, NHK said, citing sources.

Unlike some of the United States' allies, Japan has not been exempted from U.S. tariffs on its steel and aluminium imports.
