Veteran Bollywood actor-director Feroz Khan will begin shooting for his latest venture ''Kurbani'', the remake of his previous blockbuster by the same name, by year-end.
The only difference in titles of the two movies lies in its spelling. The earlies movie was named ''Qurbani'' while the remake is titled as ''Kurbani''. When asked about the difference, Feroz Khan says, ''If this one is a bigger hit than the previous one, it would be easier to differentiate''.
To another question, on why he is remaking a film he made 26 years ago, he said, ''Since, this is a season of remakes and sequels in Bollywood, it is better, I do the remake of of my own film before somebody else thinks of the idea.'' His son Fardeen will step into his shoes playing the role he enacted in the original movie while Feroz himself will play late Amjad Khan's role, apart from directing the movie. Jackie Shroff is also part of the cast as 'Rakha'.
''This is not entirely a remake. The master plot and story structure will be the same. I will be enhancing the characters in an indepth manner to appeal to today's generation. I am in the process of finalising the rest of the cast which will be ready in two to three weeks. The first draft of the script will be completed next month after which I will have a clear picture on who would suit the characters and which actors will suit my schedule of completing the film between December 2006-April 2007'', he added.
Feroz said he was not averse to the idea of casting either of Vinod Khanna's sons in the role played by Vinod himself in the original film. The hunt is on to find an actress to play Zeenat Aman's role.
He said the film would also be a musical blockbuster like the previous one which is famous for its music like ''Aap jaisa koi'' and ''Laila o laila''. He said the new film will include a sufi song and he was thinking of introducing a new voice.
Speaking about stepping into his father's shoes, Fardeen said it will not be easy for him to overcome his father. But, the thought does not discourage him.
''It only helps me to work hard to improve myself'', he said.
On grooming his son Mr Feroz said, ''I have already done so when I introduced him to films. Today, he has proved his mettle and is a thinking actor.'' Giving details of the film, he said the new screenplay was written by Puneet Sira, Vekeana Dhillon and the director himself.
Dialogues were by Kamlesh Pandey and Anand Raj Anand had composed the music.
The film is slated for a Diwali release next year.
