Indian leaders among thousands paid tribute to Koirala

Indian leaders, including Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Foreign Minister S M Krishna, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Congress leader D B Tripathee, today paid tributes to Girija Prasad Koirala at Dashrath stadium this afternoon.

The leaders, who arrived today on a special aircraft, went to Dashrath stadium after consoling the former prime minister's daughter Sujata Koirala at Mandikhatar. They will fly back to India in the evening.

Meanwhile, thousands of people gathered at Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu for the last glimpse of and to pay tributes to Koirala.

Distinguished personalities including Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, top leaders of various political parties, Ministers and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, among others, paid homage to him in the stadium.

Prime Minister Nepal draped the body with the national flag as a tribute to the NC veteran.

Due to the large gathering, the body would be kept for one more hour before being taken to Pashupati Aryaghat.
