Role of 'foreign hands' in Karachi blasts cannot be ruled out: Malik

Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said the involvement of 'foreign hands' can not be ruled out in Karachi's twin bomb blasts which killed over 30 people and injured 100 others.

Talking to media persons outside Parliament House, Malik said evidence suggests that the blasts were carried out by some outsiders.

Earlier, Malik had described the explosions as part of 'sectarian violence' that had engulfed the financial capital.

Two bomb blasts within the span of 30 minutes ripped apart Karachi last Friday evening killing over 30 persons, including women and children.

Malik said he has formed a joint team of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the bombings that killed scores of innocent people on the occasion of 'chehallum.'

He also ruled out reports, which suggested that the blasts were suicide attacks, The News reported.

Malik once again denied the presence of controversial private US security firm, Blackwater, in the country.

"No Blackwater or foreign security agency is providing security cover to the president or the prime minister. Our police and security agencies are fully capable of providing them security," alik told media persons. (ANI)
