Koirala returns from Singapore after treatment

Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala, suffering from chronic respiratory diseases and pneumonia, returned from Singapore today after a week-long medical treatment. Koirala's daughter Sujata, who accompanied him to Singapore, told local media that doctors had suggested for a follow up check up after a month. She said Koirala's health was improving satisfactorily.

The Congress president was flown to Singapore last week by an air ambulance but returned by a regular Silk Air flight. Koirala, who dominated the Nepalese politics since 1990s, is the longest serving prime minister of the Himalayan nation who played an active role in abolishing monarchy and bringing the Maoists into the mainstream politics through a comprehensive peace accord.

He was accompanied by Nepalese doctors during his stay in Singapore.
