No corruption cases against me: Malik
Islamabad | November 22, 2009 12:21:36 PM IST

Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik has denied reports about corruption cases being filed against him, saying he is being targeted for not going against assassinated Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

In a statement issued here, Malik said false cases were being filed against him in various courts across the country, because he has not gone against Bhutto.

Malik said he would unveil startling facts about the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) at an appropriate time.

Earlier, talking to media persons, Malik said the government is preparing to launch an offensive in Darra Adam Khel and Bara to clear the region of militants, who have wrecked havoc in Peshawar and another cities of the province in the recent past.

Malik said the ongoing military operation in South Waziristan and Swat have forced the extremists to flee the region, and most of them have taken refuge around Peshawar.

Responding to queries about CIA Director Leon Panetta's recent visit to the country, he said Islamabad has categorically asked the US to stop its interference in Balochistan from Afghanistan.

Denying the presence of the controversial private US security firm, Blackwater, in Pakistan, Malik said he would resign if it was proved that the firm is operating inside the country. (ANI)
