Michigan governor has emergency surgery Lansing, Mich. | May 09, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is recovering after emergency surgery to remove an intestinal obstruction, her staff said Wednesday. Granholm canceled a planned trip to Israel and Kuwait, the Detroit Free Press reported Wednesday. Doctors said that the obstruction might be a consequence of a 1993 car crash. The governor reportedly began feeling sick Sunday evening but carried out her schedule through Monday evening. She saw a doctor Tuesday and was admitted to the Sparrow Medical Center in Lansing, where the two-hour operation was carried out that evening, the Free Press said. (UPI)
