Florida college locked down after gunfire Boca Raton, Fla. | May 09, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
Florida Atlantic University was locked down Wednesday after someone fired a gun at a party in a school dorm. Campus and Boca Raton police went door to door in the University Village Apartments searching for the gun owner, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. Campus police also released a photograph of someone they described as a person of interest. We believe it's the person who had the gun, President Frank Brogan said. Chances are better than good that he's not still on campus, but we closed in an abundance of caution. Students were asked to stay in their dorm rooms or apartments and told that they would be supplied with food. Keith Totten, deputy chief of the campus police, said that one person was injured but so slightly that there was no bleeding. He said investigators were unsure if the injured person, who is not an FAU student, was grazed by a bullet or hurt in a scuffle. The closing affected only FAU's main campus in Boca Raton and other schools that have facilities on that campus. (UPI)
