Pilot charged for golf course landing Lake Villa, Ill. | May 09, 2008 12:01:13 AM IST
Prosecutors said a Lake Villa, Ill., man has been hit with criminal charges after he landed his plane on a golf course while taking his son to a tennis lesson. Robert Allan Kadera, 65, was charged with two counts of reckless conduct and one count of child endangerment after he made an unauthorized landing on the snow-covered fairway of Crane's Landing Golf Course at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort, the Waukegan (Ill.) Sun-News reported Wednesday. Police said they found the plane to be leaking fuel onto the golf course and the plane was grounded by the Federal Aviation Administration. Kadera told police he landed his plane on the golf course because his son was running late for his tennis lesson, the Chicago Tribune reported. I would say it ranks as one of the strangest investigations I've done, said Lincolnshire Police Detective Adam Hyde, a 10-year veteran of the department. (UPI)
