Ancelotti urges Chelsea stars to slow down
London | November 22, 2009 1:47:56 PM IST

Coach Carlo Ancelotti has told his hyperactive Chelsea stars to calm down, even though he is seriously impressed by the quality of the Blues players.

As his side prepares to travel to Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday, he is getting the likes of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe and Ashley Cole to slow down a bit!

Having witnessed some intense training sessions News of The World quoted him as saying: "The difference with English players I've noticed since I arrived is that English players like to train every time at 100 per cent. In Italy it's different. If you ask a player in Italy to play 50 per cent you can be sure he trains 50 per cent. If you ask Brazilian player to train 50 per cent you can be sure he trains 50 per cent."

That goes against the grain for Chelsea's home grown stars who are famous for going flat-out even in a friendly five-a-side contest.

But now it appears the Blues stars are coming round to a more continental way of thinking.

"I think they understood," smiled Ancelotti. "Not all the players! With Lampard it's difficult to tell him work slow. He likes to work 100 per cent but I'm happy, it's good for his fitness," he said. (ANI)
