Ranji Trophy: Baroda tottering at 319/8 against Delhi

Delhi consolidated its position against Baroda on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League match at the Moti Bagh stadium here Thursday. After piling up 591 in the first innings, Delhi bowlers reduced the hosts to 319 for eight.

Jacob Martin (44), Rakesh Solanki (55) and Pinal Shah (63) contributed to the Baroda score but failed to raise a big partnership. Rajesh Pawar was batting on 42 at close of play.

For Delhi, Sumit Narwal (3-70) struck crucial blows at the top while Parvinder Awana (2-64), Pradeep Sangwan (1-73), Yogesh Nagar (1-22) and Rajat Bhatia (1-10) chipped in with wickets at regular intervals.

At Ahmedabad, Gujarat set a target of 380 runs for Orissa after declaring their second innings at 301. Orissa, which folded up for 192 in their first innings, had lost the wicket of Bikas Pati with 10 runs on the board when stumps were drawn.

Niraj Patel (107), Parthiv Patel (76 not out) and Bhavik Thaker (52) set the pace for Gujarat's second innings score.

At Hyderabad, Himachal Pradesh were bowled out for 350 in their first innings after taking a slender first innings lead of 22 runs against Hyderabad. Paras Dogra smashed a century and Ajay Manu struck 68 in the Himachal innings. Alfred Absolem (4-95) and Pragyan Ojha (3-83) were the wicket takers for Hyderabad. The hosts were 101 for three in their second innings at stumps.

At Pune, Bengal took a firm grip over Maharashtra reducing them to 305 for seven in their second innings.

Bengal had bowled out Maharashtra for 179 in the first innings and scored 325. Maharashtra have an overall lead of 159 runs with three wickets in hand.

Gujarat vs. Orissa: Gujarat 270 and 301/6 declared (Niraj Patel 107 and Parthiv Patel 76 not out and Bhavik Thaker 52; Paresh Patel 2-64) against Orissa 192 and 10/1(SS Das 1 not out; Mehul Patel 1/1).

Hyderabad vs. Himachal Pradesh: Hyderabad 328 all out and 101/3 (Tirumalasetti Suman 46, Ambati Rayudu 42 not out; Mohinderraj Sharma 1-23) against Himachal Pradesh 350 all out (Paras Dogra 123, Ajay Manu 68; Alfred Absolem 4-95 and Pragyan Ojha 3-83).

Maharashtra vs. Bengal: Maharashtra 179 and 305/7 (Harshad Khadiwal 114, Rohit Motwani 59 not out; Saurashish Lahiri 4-87, Ranadeb Bose 3-47) against Bengal 325 all out.

Punjab vs. Mumbai: Punjab 259 and 55/1 ( Ravi Inder Singh 26 not out, Uday Kaul 24 not out; Zaheer Khan 1-33) against Mumbai 471/9 declared (Sahil Kukreja 90, Abhishek Nayar 53, O Khanvilkar 87, Ramesh Powar 125 not out; Love Ablish 4-107, Harmeet Singh 2-92, Manpreet Gony 2-99).

Railways vs. Tamil Nadu: Railways 327 all out against Tamil Nadu 312/8 (Murali Vijay 65, Subramaniam Badrinath 111; Murali Kartik 3-89, Shailender Gehlot 2-67).

Karnataka vs. Uttar Pradesh: Karnataka 405 and 311/5 declared (KB Pawan 78, Robin Uthappa 56, Rahul Dravid 51 not out; Piyush Chawla 2-96) against Uttar Pradesh 279 all out (Amir Khan 61, Praveen Gupta 55 not out; Abhimanyu Mithun 6-86) and 30/1 (Shivakant Shukla not out 10; Abhimanyu Mithun 1-10).
