Liverpool need Champions League miracle now, says Rafa
London | November 05, 2009 10:39:24 AM IST

Liverpool FC needs a Champions League miracle, believes coach Rafa Benitez after barely clinging to Euro survival by a thread after a cruel end to their trip into the Lyon's den last night.

Lisandro's late strike means Liverpool will be out if Fiorentina beat the French in three weeks.

Benitez also said that he did not think his job was on the line, and that he was only thinking about the next game.

"Clearly it's difficult now but it's not impossible. We have to win our next game against Debrecen and see what happens in the other match - then approach the last depending on the result. But we have to keep going, that's all we can do. We have done miracles before... maybe we can do it again," The Sun quoted Benitez, as saying.

Benitez admitted: "Obviously we have to be really disappointed because this was a great opportunity - we were there. Again it's a late goal against Lyon and it makes a massive difference. How I keep my own head up now is very simple - by watching the performance of the players and hearing the fans singing at the end."

"Clearly we made a mistake. We had too many players around and we have to do better.

"It's something we have to improve. If we are winning and in control, we have to keep the ball and be stronger when we need to challenge," he added. (ANI)
