Norman, Evert marriage was doomed from start: Ex-wife

Golf legend Greg Norman's marriage to Chris Evert was doomed from the start, according to his ex-wife Laura Andrassy.

Andrassy described Norman and the tennis champ he dumped her for as "narcissistic people."

Norman and Evert have announced the end of their relationship just 15 months after a lavish two million dollars wedding in the Bahamas.

Andrassy, who was married to Norman for 26 years and who received 103 million dollars after a very public and bitter divorce, said family and friends of the couple had predicted the marriage would not last, because of "the way it was done, the way it was handled."

"Well, it didn't come as a surprise, I think we all knew. We didn't have high hopes for it," The Daily Telegraph quoted Andrassy, as saying.

She said the whole thing was strange and that Norman and Evert-Lloyd were too alike and "narcissistic" to be a long-term match.

"They say opposites attract. Here were two people very much alike high profile and narcissistic people - and that would make a relationship difficult.

"He made his bed. Both he and Chris are adults and they were supposed to know what they were doing, but they were in the throes of lust and weren't thinking (when they got married). But being with Chris is what Greg wanted. Well, he got it," Andrassy said.

The Daily Telegraph reports friends of the couple blame a clash of egos for the breakdown of the marriage, made public in a statement from Norman's Los Angeles-based spokesman Bart Collins that said they had agreed to formally separate. (ANI)
