Pakistan recall Yasir Hameed for West Indies tests

Pakistan have recalled opener Yasir Hameed for the first two tests against West Indies and have included rookie fast bowler Samiullah Niazi in their side.

The two tests start on November 11 and 19 in Lahore and Multan.

The Caribbean tourists are scheduled to reach Lahore today night for the series of three tests and five one-day internationals.

Hameed, an opening bat, was recalled after being ignored by the selectors since June, 2005 when he played in the West Indies.

A stylish right-hander, his recall comes in the wake of problems faced by the Pakistan team management in finding a reliable opening pair in the last two years when they have tried out 15 different combinations.

Hameed, 28, has played in 17 tests and 48 one-dayers.

The selectors have also included left arm pacer Niazi who has been in outstanding form domestically and shores up the pace attack after key bowlers Shoaib Akhar and Mohammad Asif were banned last week for a doping offence.

Inzamam-ul-Haq, who is serving a ban for four one-dayers, will lead the side in the series.
