Noted physicist, photographer Aarons dies

Jules Aaron, a space physicist and documentary photographer, has died in his Newton, Mass., home after battling congestive heart failure. He was 87. Aarons, an expert in the study of radio wave propagation died Friday, the Boston Globe reported. He worked as a senior scientist at the Air Force Geophysics Research Laboratory at Hanscom Field in Bedford, Mass. He joined the faculty at Boston University in 1981 and helped establish Boston University's Center for Space Physics six years later. In addition, Aarons was an acclaimed photographer whose work is in the permanent collections of Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, New York's Museum of Modern Art, and Paris's Bibliotheque Nationale, the Globe reported. Aarons, known for his street photography, began taking photographs while an undergraduate at the City College of New York. Aarons was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette, whom he married in 1944. Survivors include two sons and three grandchildren. (UPI)
