The Madhya Pradesh High Court asked the state Chief Secretary to reply why the accused, former IAS officer and suspended Zila Panchayat Bhopal chief executive officer Gyaneshwar Patil was reinstated and promoted with posting of Member, Narmada Valley Devlopment Auhority (NVDA), involved in unnatural sexual attempt on a Panchayat Secretary, under his jurisdiction, and attempts were on to withdraw the criminal case, in which the victim was harassed and tortured and the state police failed to take action against the main accused since, last six months, as per criminal case registered against Patil, on a petition. The single bench of Justice Ajeet Singh, yesterday while hearing the petition of Village Panchayat Sikandarabad, Secretary Satish Chouksey, in Bhopal Disrict, seeking court directives for high level probe against the Bhopal, Police Authorities, General Administration Department Secretary, Chief Secretary and others for their involvement of saving the accused Gyaneshwar Patil an IAS officer, posted as the CEO of Zila Panchayat Bhopal, from the crimial charges, as registered for the crime under section 377 of CrPc, and was suspended under the intravention by the state Chief Minister Shiv Raj Singh Chouhan, admitted the same, and issued notices to state government.

Four members of a family, including two children, were killed when a truck rammed into the autorickshaw in which they were travelling near Bahalgarh village on the GT road in the district yesterday. According to police sources, the owner of the newly-purchased autorickshaw Sajid Mohammed of Khewra village had taken his younger brother Kasim, six year-old nephew Shoheb, two-year-old Sahiba and an another child, to a joy ride yesterday to Bahalgarh. On the journey, Sajid was forced to apply brakes when a tractor suddenly came in front of the autorickshaw. A truck close behind rammed into the autoricksaw, crushing it badly. While Kasim, Shoheb and Sahiba died on the spot, Sajid succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. One unidentified injured child was still hospitalised, police said. The truck driver absconded from the scene. A case has been registered in Rai police station.

From there, he walked all the way to the Sri Parthysarathy Swami Temple blessing as many as he could on the way. Talking about this spiritual-walking movement, the Swamiji said, ''faith is the only driving force in life. ''The whole world moves with faith. We first set our faith in our mothers and slowly it expands.''

Amid stray incidents of violence the bypolls passed off peacefully, UP Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Umesh Sinha said here this evening. He said 53.50 per cent voters used their democractic rights at the Ferozabad Lok Sabha seat witnessing a direct fight between Congress candidate Raj Babbar and SP candidate Dimple Yadav, the daughter-in-law of SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav. In the last elections, approximately 48.10 per cent voters had cast votes for this parliamentary seat.
