Janamashtami celebrated with fervour in UP

The auspicious festival of Janmashtami, the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna is being celebrated across Uttar Pradesh with great enthusiasm.

Temples in Mathura, Vrindavan, Lucknow and other parts of the state were decorated with flowers and colourful lights on the occasion. Special security arrangements have been made at temples including the Radha Damodar temple, Dwarkadhish temple and Shahji temple of Mathura. At the Bankey Bihari temple, the festival is celebrated at night. Devotees perform the 'Mangla Darshan' at midnight. ISKCON temples in several cities of the state have been decorated for the occasion.

According to police, CCTV cameras and watch towers have also been installed around these temples to keep a close watch on potential suspects to avoid any untoward incident. Security has also been tightened at all market places.

Adequate security arrangements have been made in and Vrindavan.

Famous singer Anuradha Paudwal sang several bhajans of Lord Krishna in a special programme organised in Srikrishna janmsthan in Mathura with the guidance of Srikrishna Janmbhoomi Nyas president Mahanth Nritya Gopaldas and Guru SDharannand Mahraj.

Special programmes were organised in police lines in the state capital.
