15 guests arrive from PoK, no Kashmiri crosses to other side
Srinagar | Thursday, Sep 2 2010 IST

Fifteen guests from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this afternoon while no resident from this side crossed to the other side in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad.

Official sources told UNI that 15 PoK residents, including four women and five children, arrived at Kaman post, the last Indian military post on the Line of Control (LoC) after crossing the Aman setu bridge on foot in Uri sector.

This is for the first time after seven weeks that the PoK guests arrived this side.

Barring July 15 when only two residents of the other side arrived here, no PoK resident came this side in view of the prevailing situation in the Valley since July 8.

However, no resident of the Valley crossed over to the other side in today's bus. This is for the second successive week, no Kashmiri went to the PoK.

A resident of PoK, who was here, also returned his home.

The bus service was started on April 7, 2005 when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh flagged off the first bus from here. The bus has helped more than 10,000 people to meet their relatives since then.
