CII to promote Eastern States as Prime Investment Block

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Eastern Chapter will promote the eastern region as prime investment block and introduce special initiative for the region while focusing on skill development, district development plans and sustainable development.

CII Eastern Region Chairman Kurush Grant, who met the CII members meet here today, later told mediapersons that with growing logistic connectivity, CII would promote the eastern region as a prime investment block and assist states through state-focused 'Enterprise Shows', 'Logistics Colloquium', 'Energy Conclave', 'Mineral Junction' , Conference on Green Power and EXIM Summit.

He said 'Business for Livelihood' would be the theme for this year for the CII, adding the emphasis would be on creating jobs through sustainable enterprise.

''We will focus on skill development, district development plans, health, membership engagement as well as schemes for ensuring sustainable development, enhancing competativeness, promoting east and engaging with state government for the promotion of the eastern region,'' he said.

The CII, Mr Grant said, had adopted 42 ITI's in Eastern region including five in Orissa and conducted skill-gap analysis in Bihar, Jharkhand Orissa, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh.

He further said the CII had created vision documents in all these states and introduced soft skill training in colleges and universities. This apart, centres for skill mapping studies had been planned in 14 districts in the eastern region and such insititutes would be set up in five districts in Orissa - Balasore, Jajpur, Bolangir, Koraput and Kalahandi.

CII(Eastern Region) Deputy Chairman Ranveer Sinha said the Confederation would hold members meet, induction meet and four road shows with a focus on increasing number of members, membership engagement and creating effective membership communications.

The membership engagement will also include creating a panel of experts and advisory desk in all the five states.
