India Former CMs flay Modi govt
Former chief ministers Shankersinh Vaghela and Suresh Mehta today came down heavily on Narendra Modi's government and accused it of pursuing a policy of publicity and no real development. Addressing a joint news conference here, Mr Mehta and Mr Vaghela said not only the present but the future of Gujarat has become uncertain as the public debt is on the rise and number of poor and unemployed people is increasing day-by-day. The leaders announced that a convention of Prabuddha Nagarik Shakti Manch is being organised at Sanand near here on March 28 to bring all enlightened people of the state on one platform. They said ''if we do not raise the issues today, the future would not forgive us.'' The leaders said the number of poor people has increased the maximum during the rule of present government. The number of persons living below povertyline has reached 34 lakh from 23 lakh four years ago. The number of poor people is increasing at the rate of 14 lakh people per year. If the situation continues, the state would become one of the poorest state of the country, they added. -- (UNI) -- 18BY21.xml
