IIM-A course for UK SMEs
Ahmedabad | Tuesday, Mar 16 2010 IST

For the second year running, Indian Institute of Management- Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is hosting a five-day marketing scholarship programme for UK small and medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) looking for a business edge in India.

The 2009 course, under IIM-A's Management Development Programme, was the first that it had run specifically for UK overseas entrepreneurs to increase their understanding of the Indian market.

It was such a success that it has generated demand for another one this year.

This year's course, organised once again in collaboration with UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) London and the London Development Agency (LDA), and supported by the Deputy High Commission in Mumbai and the British Trade Office in Ahmedabad, has attracted participants from 18 UK companies representing a wide range of industries - including glass processing, hair products, cable and wiring systems, healthcare, soft drinks, and a variety of professional and business services.

The India Marketing Strategy Scholarship Programme offers managers of London-based SMEs a chance to learn from Indian experts in India about how to build their business in this market, says a release of the British Deputy High Commission.

The scholarship includes an intensive five-day marketing course from March 16-20 at the IIM-A campus and an opportunity for a short business attachment with an Indian company.

The course will cover : marketing to the Indian customer - customer psychology; developing a competitive marketing strategy; building customer value models; developing segmentation and positioning strategies; managing market offerings; media trends, advertising and marketing communications; pricing approaches; providing superior value with adaptive channels; building and sustaining working relationships; developing and using defensive strategies; identifying and predicting the strategies of competitors; thinking through and implementing e-business strategies.
