Dalai Lama to inaugurate Buddha Park on May 27

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who called on the Dalai Lama here, said that the Tibetan temporal and spiritual Head leader had accepted his invitation to dedicate a Maha Samriti Buddha Park at Patna on Budh Poornima this year to the people.

Mr Kumar, who visited the Dalia at Lama his palace in Mcleodganj yesterday told mediapersons here the Dalai Lama had accepted his invitiation, to dedicate the park to the people on the occasion of 2550 Maha Parinirvan Diwas on Budh Poornima on May 27, this year. He said the park was being built according to the Buddhist culture and was in the last phase of its construction. He also said certain valuables of Lord Buddha were to be kept in the Stupa constructed in the park. There were some valuables of Lord Buddha with the Tibetan spiritual leader, some of which would be dedicated by him to keep in the stupa, Mr Kumar informed. The Chief Minister said a large University was to be established at Nalanda and land had been identified for the project of international standard. He further said that an agreement was signed with 45 countries including Japan and China. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had shown keen interest in this project,he added. Mr Kumar disclosed that the number of the international tourists visiting Bihar had doubled in last four years and had touched four lakhs whereas number of national tourist had touched one crore.
