Annu's new stint with Bengali show
Kolkata | Monday, Dec 7 2009 IST

Veteran Bollywood actor Annu Kapoor will for the first time anchor a Bengali musical quiz show scheduled to be aired on Ruposhi Bangla.

''It's all about my love for music that I have agreed to conduct the show christened Gaan Gao Taka Nao (Sing Song and Take Money).

It's great experience teaching and learning new age music from the youngsters,'' Kapoor said while talking to newspersons here today, after launching three programmes - 'Gaan Gao Taka Nao (GGTN)', 'Bondhu Tomaye' and the second season of 'Dance Pe Chance - Boudimoni' - to be aired on the same channel.

The actor had earlier hosted musical shows on other channels like Meri Awaaz Suno.

National award winner Rituparna Sengupta, veteran singer Arati Mukherjee and Tollywood star Arindam Sil were among others present on the occasion.

Elaborating on her stint as a judge with 'Boudimoni', Rituparna said, ''It's an exceptional experience judging the show with Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon. Housewives, including a domestic help, across the state have participated in the programme. It's never too late if you know the right way.'' Besides, the GGTN assures a 'take-home-something' opportunity, said one of the judges Arati Mukherjee, also a veteran singer.

''New age singers lack inputs of classical music and are only attracted to fame. Even the audience would have a chance of winning cash prizes.'' Bondhu Tomaye is a completely new concept with short stories based on women, tranformed into films, that would be telecast for five days in a week.

Creative Head of the programme Arindam Sil said, ''New age directors are coming up with superb presentation style through this programme where Arindya Banerjee's 'Goal' will be the debut film.'' While Bondhu Tomaye would be aired from tonight at 1900 hrs, Dance Pe Chance - Boudimoni would begin its second innings on December 16 at 2130 hrs.
