Grameen Bank MD Yunus to deliver lecture on Dec 9

Nobel Laureate and Managing Director of Grameen Bank, Bangladesh, Professor Muhammad Yunus will deliver the 'Second Professor Hiren Mukherjee Annual Parliamentary Lecture on December 9.

The theme of the lecture, to be delivered in the Central Hall of the Parliament, is 'Social Business: A Step Toward Creating a New Economic and Social Order', an official release today said.

The function will also be addressed by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Vice-President Hamid Ansari and Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. Governors, Chief Ministers, Presiding Officers of State Legislatures, Members of Parliament and other dignitaries have been invited to attend the function.

Parliament had instituted the Professor Hiren Mukerjee Memorial Annual Parliamentary Lecture in 2008 and the inaugural lecture was delivered by Nobel Laureate Professor Amartya Sen.
