Hooda for mass movement against female foeticide
Rohtak | Saturday, Dec 5 2009 IST

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today as a clarion call to women to launch a mass movement against female foeticide so as to eliminate this social evil from society.

The Chief Minister, while speaking at a function organised to mark golden jubilee celebrations of the Government College for Women at Rohtak, said that students could play a significant role in creating awakening against this social malady.

He urged the students to take a pledge on this day that they would scale new heights to bring laurels to their country, teachers and parents. He described hardwork as a key to success and urged them to work hard to achieve their goal. He said the state government had been laying stress on education because only those societies and states made progress which had educated people.

He appreciated the efforts made by Bhagat Phool Singh for setting up Gurukul for women at Khanpur Kalan, which the state government turned into a women university, the first of its kind in North India. A medical college for women was also being set up at Khanpur Kalan.

Haryana Education Minister Geeta Bhukkal said that with in view to encouraging girls for education, the Chief Minister had implemented a number of schemes, especially for girls hailing from rural areas.
