YSR'wife files nomination papers

After paying homage at her husband's samadhi int Idupulapaya, Y S Vijayalakshmi, wife of former Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, who was nominated by the party High Command as Congress candidate filed her nomination papers for the bypoll to Pulivendula assembly seat today.

Fifty-three-year-old Ms Vijayalakshmi and her son and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who reached Pulivendula from Bangalore this morning placed wreaths on the samdhi of YSR and offered prayers for sometime.

Later, accompanied by party workers she came in a procession to the Pulivendula Tahsildhar's office and filed three sets of nomination papers before Returning Officer G Gopal for the bypoll scheduled to be on December 19.

Vijayalakhmi's son Jagan Mohan Reddy, Kadapa district-In-charge Minister Galla Aruna Kumari, YSR's brothers --Y S Bhaskar Reddy and MLC Y S Vivekananda Reddy-- were present during the filing of the nomination papers before the Returning Officer.

The byelection to Pulivendula was necessitated following the death of Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy in a copter crash on September two.

The victory of Vijayalakshmi is certain as the Telugu Desam Party, Praja Rajyam Party and the Lok Satta Party have already announced not to contest the bypoll.
