India Yangoon-bound plane aborts flight after window problem
An inadvertent pulling of a latch of a window over the wing near an emergency door by a passenger led a Kolkata-Gaya-Yangoon bound Air India plane to abort its flight at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport here. According to an AI official, the incident occurred at about 1030 hrs when the Airbus-320 with 139 passengers was stationary on the parking bay. ''A monk, who was sitting next to the emergency door, might have inadvertently pulled the latch of the window, immediately setting off an alarm in the cockpit,'' the official stated. Not taking any risk, the Commander of the aircraft decided to go for a check to ensure that everything was in order with emergency door and the chute. The passengers were offloaded and the aircraft was taken to a hangar. The chute opens up automatically after the emergency door is opened to allow passengers to slide down to safety in case of an accident in the aircraft. -- (UNI) -- 23CA25.xml
