India 48 Bangladeshi infiltrators deported from Orissa
As many as 48 out of the 4,083 Bangladeshi infiltrators have been deported from Orissa during the last seven years, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told the state Assembly today. Replying to a question of Mr Prafulla Kumar Mallik, the Chief Minister said the government had directed the district administration at least 22 times during the last seven years for identification of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Mr Patnaik said so far identification of the Bangladeshi infiltrators had been completed in 25 out of the 30 districts and 4083 infiltrators had been identified. He said after the competition of the identification work, the state government, in consultation with the union government, would take necessary steps for deportation of the remaining infiltrators. Mr Patnaik said 17 Bangladeshi families had so far been identified to have been settled in Refugee Colony at Cuttack Road, Bhubaneswar.
