Lucknow | Sunday, Nov 22 2009 IST

Asian table tennis Championship held here in the runup for the 2010 Commonwealth Games was a failure for the Indian paddlers but they have learnt a lesson which could be useful for them in the Delhi games next year.

''Indian players have proved their fitness particularly against the Chinese players and in the coming Commonweath games they will perform their best'', claimed Indian physiotherapist Vandana tanwar.

Talking to UNI, Tanwar said that due to their high fitness, Indian men's team challenged the Chinese in the quarter-finals of the team event.

Appreciating the performance of Indian top seeded and World number 71 Sharath Kamal, the physiotherapist said that his match against World Number 5 Wang Ligin of China was an extraordinary match.

Sharath is the Commonwealth TT single Champion.

Claiming that the Indian players are given international stardard training and all latest equipements are available here, she said that now days Yoga has also been introduced for the paddlers for strengthening their consentration, which is the basic need for a good TT player.

''Though players from China, Japan ,Korea and other east Asian countries have tougher mental and physical standard but still India do no lag behind much'', she added.
