Bengal will not see development so long Buddhadeb in power: Partha
Barasat | Saturday, Nov 21 2009 IST

Opposition leader in West Bengal Legislative Assembly Partha Chattopadhyay today alleged that so long Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was in power, the state would not see any development. Speaking at a meeting of his party Trinamool Congress at Sasan in North 24 Parganas, Mr Chattopadhyay alleged that local CPI(M) leaders like Majid Master were the stooges of the party leaderships, who instigated terror attacks in different areas of Sasan here and in Asansol, Burdwan and Midnapur districts. On the other hand, the CPI(M) had been accusing Trinamool Congress of carrying out killings in Lalgarh area, alleging that the Trinamool had alliance with the Maoists, he added.

He also alleged that Majid, who was the terror in Sasan and adjoining areas, outrooted the people having allegiance to the opposition parties from the villages and no opposition party could not hold any meeting in this area. But the time had changed and the party like Trinamool Congress could hold such a public meeting at Sasan, which was earlier a red bastion of the CPI(M), for the first time in three decades, Mr Chattopadhaya said. Claiming that the Trinamool Congress never indulged in violence and killings, he said the party earned strength not by showing guns, but with the people's mandate through the series of elections since last year. Besides, Mr Chattopadhaya, party chairman and MLA Subrata Bakshi, MLA and party observer in North 24 Parganas Jyotipriya Mallik also addressed the rally.
