Koda wants to appear for interrogation after polls
Jamshedpur | Saturday, Nov 21 2009 IST

Multi-crore money laundering scam accused former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today said he has conveyed to the investigating agencies that he would be available for interrogation only after the state Assembly elections, beginning from November 25. Koda told newspersons here that he had written to the Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate (ED), requesting to excuse him from appearing for interrogation till the elections are not over.

He said he was yet to receive the reply. Koda said he has to campaign for the candidates of the newly floated Jharkhand Navnirman Morcha and participating in the election process was his fundamental right. He said would cooperate fully after the polls..

He refused to comment on his 'aides' Sanjay Choudhary and Binod Sinha, who were facing arrest warrants.

Income Tax authorities had raided more than 65 premises, including Koda's residences, and unearthed documents that allegedly pointed to hawala transactions and illegal investment to the tune of several crores of rupees.

He had failed to appear before the agency on November 19. He accepted that second summons were delivered at his Ranchi residence on November 18. Earlier, he was summoned on November 15. The former Jharkhand Chief Minister has put up six candidates, including his wife Gita for the polls.
