China proves its supremecy in Asian TT C'ship

It will be an all Chinese affair in the men's and women singles event in the 19th Asian Table Tennis Championship here.

It will be Chinese players who would play semi-finals between them tomorrow in the men's and women singles event after they trounced their opponents in the quarter-final matches here tonight.

In the quarter-final matches played today, Chinese players outplayed their opponents with their technique, skill and patience.

In the first men's quarter-final Ma Long of China beat Matsudaira Kenta of Japan 11-4,11-9,11-3 and 11-3 while XU Xin of China defeated Mizutani Jun of Japan by 11-4,11-5,9-11,11-6 and 11-2.

In the third quarter-final match, Zhang Jike of China beat Cheung Yuk of Hongkong 10-12,11-8,11-9,11-7 and 11-6 while Wang Liqin also China defeated Jang Song Man of Korea by 9-11,11-4,11-9,11-4 and 11-6.

In the first quarter final match in the women event, Li Xiaoxia of China beat Jiang Huajun of Hongkong 4-0 in an one sided match. The scores were 11-9,11-8,11-6 and 11-5.

In the second match, Fan Ying of China beat Wu Yang also of China 4-3. The scores were 11-3,7-11,11-8,9-11,10-12,12-10 and 11-6.

Most interesting match was witnessed in the third quarter-final when Ding Ning had a hard time to win her match against Kim Kyung Ah by 4-3. The scores were 9-11,11-6,11-4,11-9,12-14,3-11 and 11-4.

In the last quarter-final match, Liu Shiwen of China beat Wang Yue Gu of Singapore 4-1 with scores being 13-11,11-8,9-11,11-5 and 11-9.
