Western Railways women lift Railway hockey championship

Western Railway won the 31st All India Railway women hockey championship defeating local outfit Rail Coach Factory (RCF) by 3-2, through a golden goal scored in extra time.

In the finals here today, both teams were level at 2-2 in the stipulated time. The golden goal was scored by Shaba Anjum in the extra time much to the relief of her team.

RCF bouyed by the local crowd was leading 2-1 at half time.

However after the breather, Western Railways played attacking hockey and restored parity (2-2) just a couple of minutes before the final whistle.

RCF Women Welfare Organisation President. Abha Kumar. wife of the RCF General Manager gave away the prizes to the winners and losers.
