India 101 players to participate in All India Police Lawn Tennis C'ship
In all 101 players would take part in the All India Police Lawn Tennis Championship to be hosted by the Jammu and Kashmir Police from November 23 to 27 here. ''101 police personnel from both state and central police forces will be taking part in seven events during five-day long tournament,'' Kuldeep Khoda, Director General of Police (DGP) told reporters at a press conference this evening. Khoda said six state police officers are also to be the part of the championship and being a host, the department is hopeful of excelling in the championship. ''Sports has always been promoted by the police department for inculcating discipline among our jawans besides keeping them fit to fight against terrorism or any other situation in the mountainous regions,'' the DGP said. The DGP, however, said such national events help police personnel to get more exposure of the sports. The championship would be held under the banner of All India Police Sports Control Board, New Delhi in assistance with Jammu and Kashmir Lawn Tennis Association.
