India Birthday turns tragic, couple fatally knocked down
Birthday turned tragic for a young woman and her husband who were fatally knocked down by a lorry at Adyar in the City. Police said Prathap Kumar (27), working as a software engineer in an IT firm at Perungudi and his wife Priya (22), were returning home from the Velankanni Church, when the tragedy befell last night. The couple left their three-month-old girl child with their relatives and went to the church for prayers on the occasion of Priya's birthday. While returning home at around 2300 hrs, a lorry hit their two-wheeler, throwing them off the vehicle. Both of them, married two years ago, died on the spot and the bodies were sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The lorry driver had been arrested.
