YSR kin to get ticket for Assembly bypoll in AP: Congress
Hyderabad | Saturday, Nov 21 2009 IST

With the Election Commission announcing the schedule for the byelection to the prestigious Pulivendula assembly seat, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) President D Srinivas today indicated that a family member of former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy would enter the poll fray.

Talking to newspersons here, Mr Srinivas said, ''the party will give the ticket to a member of Reddy's family. None in the party will have any objections.'' However, the APCC Chief refused to divulge the name of the candidate and said the party high command would make the announcement in time.

The matter had come for discussion when YSR's son and Congress MP from Kadapa Y S Jaganmohan Reddy had called on All India Congress Committee(AICC) President and United Progressive Alliance(UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi along with his mother Y S Vijayalakshmi and sister Sharmila.

Notification for the bypoll, which was necessitated following Y S R's death in a helicopter crash on September 2, would be issued on November 25.
