Kareem inaugurates Gem and Jewellery Show

Kerala industries minister Elamaram Kareem today inaugurated the three-day Kerala Gem & Jewellery Show (KGJS), which will be a common platform for interaction between traders and manufacturers.

Addressing a gathering after the inauguration, Mr Kareem said the show would open up new opportunities for both manufacturers and traders in the gems and jewellery industry. He said the government was encouraging shows and exhibitions on the same lines in various sectors to create more scope in the industry and job opportunities. '' The gems and jewellery industry should face the challenges and stand up to the competition from foreign companies,'' he said.

The second edition of KGJS, the only B2B jewellery show in the state, will have more than 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest designs and products spread over 175 stalls in the event. The segments showcased include gold jewellery and chains, diamond and precious stone studded jewellery, loose diamonds, silver jewellery and artefacts, he said. The show is expected to provide a boost for jewellery trade in the state and surrounding regions in south India. The event is presented by Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Kerala and orgainsed by India's numero uno jewellery magazine 'The Art of Jewellery' in association with 'All Kerala Gold & Silver Merchants Association (AKGSMA), Jewellery Manufacturing Association (JMA) of Kerala and World Gold Council. The show would also include educational seminars and jewellery awards nite.
