India Asia Pacific's 'best' Bariatric Surgery Inst, Cancer Centre launched
The Dalai Lama today inaugurated two most superior facilities in the Asia Pacific region - the Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Max Cancer Centre at Max Hospital in Saket here. Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery endeavours to perform surgical procedures utilising minimally invasive techniques (Key-Hole Surgery), providing faster recovery, lesser post-operative pain and minimal post-surgical complications to the patients. Max Cancer Centre is equipped with the revolutionary Novalis Tx technology along with Brachytherapy, including intra-operative Brachytherapy suite. Novalis Tx Radiosurgery coupled with the existing intra-operative MRI -- BrainSUITE -- makes Max Healthcare the first facility in India to possess this unique combination for treatment of brain tumours. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Pradeep Chowbey said, ''The team of specialists, at the Max Institute of Minimal Access, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery brings with it an accumulated experience of over 48,000 laparoscopic and bariatric surgeries spanning over two decades. The team has been at the forefront to develop and expand the frontiers of Minimal Access surgery in the country and beyond. One of the foremost priorities of the Institute is teaching and training surgeons in the art and safe practice of Minimal Access and Bariatric surgery. The team has produced a set of educational CD-Roms on all basic and advanced laparoscopic procedures for surgeons negotiating the learning curve. I am certain that our patients at Max Healthcare can look forward to the very highest standards of medical care available today.'' Max Healthcare Radiation Oncology Chief Dr A K Anand said Novalis Tx is a very versatile machine that will facilitate image-guided treatment for a host of body sites. Combining the advanced technologies for imaging, treatment planning, and treatment delivery, it offers clinicians a fast and versatile radiosurgery device for image-guided treatments of the brain or body. ''With this platform, our facility will offer state-of-the-art, non-invasive treatment for a wide range of malignancies and other potentially debilitating conditions, without harming nearby healthy tissue and without involving traditional surgery. As a fully integrated system, Novalis automates all treatment processes from patient registration to scanning, planning, actual treatment and documentation. Furthermore, it reduces the number of actions necessary for patient positioning, resulting in faster treatment and increased patient throughput,'' he said. Speaking about the Cancer Centre, Surgical Oncology Chief Consultant and Director Dr Harit Chaturvedi said, ''We are setting up high-end technology in the surgical arena like intra-op ultrasound, CUSA etc and are bringing in new tools in medical oncology as well. All this along with the tumour board discussion process for each patient will help us customise our treatment for every individual.'' -- (UNI) -- 21DI47.xml
