One more SC judge declares assets
New Delhi | Saturday, Nov 21 2009 IST

One more Supreme Court Judge Justice Harjit Singh Bedi, who had not declared his assets earlier on November 2 along with other apex court judges, has now declared his assets.

As per the details available on the Supreme Court website, Justice Bedi has more than Rs one crore in various bank accounts. He has two properties, one house in posh Panchsheel Marg area here and other in Solan in Himachal Pradesh in which he has one third share. Meanwhile, all the Madras High Court judges have made their assets public. The Madras High Court stands second after the Kerala High Court in the country, where judges have declared their assets. However, majority of other High Courts, including the Allahabad High Court, the biggest in the country, have shown no inclination to declare their assets.

Four new Supreme Court judges, who had taken oath only this week, are also likely to make their assets public soon. These judges are Justices A K Patnaik, Tirath Singh Thakur, KSP Radhakrishnan and Surinder Singh Nijjar.

Till now, 22 of the 26 judges of the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan, have made their assets public.
