Govt with clean image is our priority in J'khand: Advani
Godda/Deoghar | Saturday, Nov 21 2009 IST

Senior BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani today made a scathing attack on former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, saying ''corruption and misgovernance'' during his tenure was a ''world record''.

He promised a government with ''clean image'' in Jharkhand, if the BJP was voted to power in the state in the coming Assembly elections.

''I never heard about misgovernance and corruption as reported during Koda's regime (Koda Jaisa Kushashan.. Bharashtrachar Vishwa Me Kahin Nahi Suna),'' Mr Advani said, addresing an election rally at college ground here.

In Dumka, he said his party would effort to make a ''corruption free'' government in the state if it got mandate.

''Our priority is to form a government with clean image'', Mr Advani said in the second capital of the state.

Refering to media reports, the former deputy prime minister said a Mumbai-based newspaper published details of Koda's diary which contained the names of a few big politicians.

Demanding proper inquiry into the matter, he said the issue would also be raised during Parliament's session.

Mr Advani, who is the leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, held the Congress and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha responsible for the present status of the state and said Koda government had been formed on the directions of both the parties.

''The tenure of UPA backed government in the state was an extreme period of corruption and all those parties were equally responsible for the loot of natural and mineral resources of this state,'' Mr Advani said.

Refering to his Rath Yatras, he said his party tried to maintain unity of the coutry through such Yatras when communal forces were busy in creating differences among people by advocating reservation.

The BJP leader said he had special affection with all the three states formed during the reign of NDA government at the Centre.

''Jharkhand has immense potential and Mahendra Singh Dhoni is a unique example of this,'' he said, adding special care would be taken of mineral and natural resources of the state if NDA formed the government.

Without taking name of any political party, Mr Advani, accompanied by Sharad Yadav, national president of Janta Dal(United), said development could not be expected from ''Lantern'' (the party symbol of Rashtriya Janta Dal).

''We need to take clear decision for the over-all development of this state,'' Mr Advani added.

Meanwhile, Mr Yadav said developmental model of neighbouring Bihar would be implemented in the state if the NDA formed government.

''Our coalition changed the face of Bihar, which is being seen as model state,'' Mr Yadav said, adding Jharkhand would also witness similar era of development if their coalition came in power.

The five-phase elections for 81 Assembly seats of the state would begin from November 25.
