Winter ushers in Kolkata
Kolkata | Saturday, Nov 21 2009 IST

Though late, winter is gradually making its presence felt here with dipping mercury levels and blowing of northerly winds punctuated by spells of wintry shower.

''Temperature is likely to dip further in the next 48 hours.

Wednesday rains have further lowered the city temperature,'' Alipur Meteriological Office Chief G C Debnath today said, adding the real winter feel will be experienced in the first week of December. The seasonal warm garment sellers from Bhutan, Darjeeling and Ladhak have also started doing rounds of the city shops at Subodh Mullick Square in Central Kolkata.

North Bengal and Sikkim's MET office Chief Gopi Nath Raha echoed similar views and said ''real winter'' was not expected before the first week of December.
