India Fire rages on at Hooghly Jute mill
Huge stocks of jute bags, jute sewing machines and raw materiels were gutted when a fire broke out at Hooghly Jute Mills in southern fringes of the city today. Fire Brigade sources said about ten fire tenders were pressed into service in rotation to douse the flames which were raging on for more than three hours now. Eye witnesses said the fire broke out when sparks from sewing machines caught stacks of jute at the factory at around 1220 hours. There were no immediate reports of casualty in the blaze, sources added. Reinforcement was deployed to instill confidence among the people as they became panicky seeing the leaping flames engulfing the two-storeyed factory. -- (UNI) -- 21CA15.xml
