In Shankaranand's death Karnataka lost a son of soil: Azad
New Delhi | Friday, Nov 20 2009 IST

Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today expressed deep sorrow over the demise of former union minister B Shankaranand and said in his death, Karnataka lost a son of soil. In his condolence message, Dr Azad said Shankaranand, a veteran Congress leader from Karnataka, had held many important ministerial positions in the Government, including the Ministry of Health. ''He tirelessly worked for the uplift of the downtrodden and the underprivileged. In his death, the Congress Party lost a very senior member and Karnataka lost a son of soil,'' he said and prayed that Almighty gave courage to the members of his family to bear the irreparable loss.
