India HC takes exception to absence of national emblem
Calcutta High Court's acting Chief Justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya today took strong exception to the absence of the national emblem on the century-old ornamental chair every chief justice took to deliver justice over the years. Indian Constitution rules that chair of Chief Justice of the high courts across the country must have a national emblem. Justice Bhattacharya left the court in a huff towards early afternoon when a news periodical, Barta Naya, drew his attention to the lapse which nobody knew how long continued. Before relieving the chair, he asked the court authorities to set it aside and fix the problem immediately. He took an ordinary chair when he stepped into the court in the second half to take up the proceedings. -- (UNI) -- 20CA47.xml
