India Driver of bank cash van steals Rs 40 lakh
The driver of a bank cash van today fled with Rs 40 lakh that had to be deposited in ATM centres from suburban Andheri. Police said at around 1030 hours, a vehicle of Banking Arya, an agency depositing cash in ATM centres, left its office at Andheri with Rs 85 lakh cash. After depositing the money at two-three ATM centres, they reached the ATM centre of ABN Amro Bank at Infinity mall in Andheri. When two cashiers and the security guard went inside to deposit Rs 10 lakh in the centre, driver Praveen Vasudeo Bolekar drove away the vehicle and abandoned it near Meghna mall in Versova after stealing Rs 40 lakh, police said. Police have recovered Rs 35 lakh cash from the vehicle, while Rs 40 lakh was missing.
