India CM refutes Guv's observation on rehab
Denying Governor H R Bharadwaj's observation, Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today said rehabilitation of the flood-affected families in North Karnataka districts was going on a war-footing with active cooperation from the private initiatives. Speaking to newspersons after witnessing signing of a MoU with Seva Bharathi, a Sangh Pariwar outfit which had pledged to construct over 2,371 houses for the flood-affected families in the 15 Districts of Northern part of the State, Mr Yeddyurappa said 'the State Government has been able to take up rehabilitation work on an unprecedented manner.'' Referring to the Governor's remark on the 'tardy' pace in rehabilitation work, the Chief Minister refuted it and said the State Government had released Rs 1,500 crore for the work and already over Rs 1,200 crore had been spent. Welcoming the Governor's reported gesture to mobilise more funds from the Centre, the Chief Minister welcomed it and said he was ready to accompany the Governor to New Delhi. Earlier, the Governor, speaking after inaugurating the Karnataka Agriculture University-sponsored 'Krishi Mela' in the city remarked that the pace of rehabilitation of flood-affected families was very slow. -- (UNI) -- 19MS66.xml
