Trinamool Congress to contest Jharkhand Assembly polls
Kolkata | Thursday, Nov 19 2009 IST

Aspiring to grow further beyond West Bengal, the Trinamool Congress has decided to contest the five phase Jharkhand Assembly elections, beginning from November 25.

'' We have decided to put up 18 candidates in the first two phases of polls in Jharkhand. The party is considering whether more nominees can be fielded, '' Trinamool Congress General Secretary Sanjay Bakshi said.

The party registered massive victories in West Bengal in the last Lok Sabha polls as well as in the by-elections to the ten Assembly seats. The party made a successful debut outside the state when it contested in the recently held Arunchal Pradesh Assembly elections and won five seats.
